The suspects were paraded alongside the minors at the
State Command headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta. They were said to have
been arrested on Sunday at a motor park at Ibafo, in the Obafemi-Owode
Local Government Area of the state.
The three suspects; Zainab Ahmad, 18; Aisha Abdullahi, 55; and Zuliat Abdulmalik,
45, allegedly took the underage children, which comprised 25 girls and
one boy, from their parents in Kano State, and were bringing them to
Lagos for menial jobs, Vanguard reports.
The Commissioner of Police, Abdulmajid Ali, said the suspects might be taking their victims to Lagos for sinister motives.
He said in a statement:
“Our attention was drawn yesterday (Sunday) that some groups of underage were seen at a motor park in the Ibafo area. Our team raced there and arrested the three women, who were going with the children to Lagos.Their mission in Lagos, according to the suspects, is to take them to do some menial jobs. But the kids did not even know what they were in for.”
